Dentist Edmonds, WA

Many of our patients are surprised to learn that the All-on-4 implant procedure is not nearly as complicated as they had imagined.

Examination

Dental x-rays and a CBCT scan of the jawbone will be part of the comprehensive oral exam. To assess whether or not you are a good candidate for the surgery, we will also talk about your medical history, any current health problems, and the medications you are now taking. After determining whether or not you are a suitable candidate, we will set up a placement surgery for you.

Placement of Implant

Once you are under general anesthesia, the dentist will remove any remaining teeth and make tiny incisions in your gums to prepare the dental implants' four upper and four lower arch sockets. The implants are inserted through these incisions. After drilling holes in your jaw, implant screws are inserted, and a connector is fastened to them. Sometimes at this point in the procedure, a bone graft is needed. After the implants have been placed, your gums will be sutured, and temporary dentures will be placed.

Dental Implant Placement Recovery

Although everyone heals differently from surgery, most doctors recommend taking it easy for at least 72 hours and using ice packs to minimize swelling in the days following your procedure. Your dentist may also prescribe medications for pain and infection prevention.

Dental Implants vs. Dentures

Tooth loss is unattractive and harmful to your oral and overall health. Feel confident about your smile again with the help of dentures or dental implants that restore lost teeth while protecting gum tissue and bone.

In Need of Dentures?

Dentures replace missing teeth and can be taken in and out whenever necessary. Multiple tooth loss is more common than single tooth loss; thus, many people with gaps in their smiles have dentures. Improvements in denture technology have allowed for significant steps in this field in recent decades. Technological advancements make modern dentures replicate natural teeth more accurately than ever.

Dentures are more affordable than dental implants and can be removed whenever it is most convenient for the patient. They are an excellent option for those with compromised jaw health. A disadvantage of dentures is that they can slip out your mouth in public, which is very embarrassing. Tooth loss and gum disease are possible outcomes of poorly fitting dentures. They also require regular upkeep and replacement when necessary.

Is There a Difference Between Dental Implants and Dentures?

Dental implants have recently surpassed dentures in popularity as a long-term option for tooth replacement. Though initially costlier than dentures, they prove cost-effective in the long run since they can be used for a long time without wearing out. Dental implants can reduce the frequency of visits to the dentist by a significant margin compared to regular dentures. Losing teeth no longer poses a social barrier when using dental implants to eat, laugh, or speak. Dental implants and dentures are two possibilities for replacing missing teeth that our helpful staff can discuss with you. Call us today at: 425-310-5789!
