Our Technology

At Dr Liu Family Dental, we have invested in the latest dental technology to provide you with the most advanced treatment and care, including:

DIGITAL X-RAYS

In the past, most dental professionals had to use traditional x-ray systems, which require film development. These days, we use digital X-rays due to their many benefits. A digital x-ray is safer and much quicker than its film predecessor. If the image comes out blurry, we can instantly retake a new one. Digital X-rays are a crucial diagnostic tool that helps us gain a better understanding of the inner workings of your mouth, more specifically the teeth, roots, and alveolar bone.

INTRAORAL SCANNER

The intraoral scanner enhances the conversation between our team and the patient. The intraoral scanner is the size of a toothbrush, and with it, we can display live video on a screen next to the chair. With it, we can highlight areas of interest and discuss treatment options. We find the better a patient sees and understand the work that needs to be done, the increased confidence and happiness they have in their treatment. We strive to have open lines of communication with our patients, and the intraoral scanner helps.

3D IMAGING WITH 3SHAPE

At Dr Liu Family Dental we utilize 3Shape TRIOS technology to take 3D images of your teeth. 3D imaging allows us to understand better the anatomy of your mouth, which is essential before we perform any type of corrective procedure. By using this state-of-the-art technology, our doctors will be better prepared to accurately diagnose potential issues and develop the best possible treatment program for you.

How is 3D imaging different from a traditional X-ray?

A typical dental x-ray will just focus on the teeth, and for each image, you’ll need one exposure. Therefore, to get the same picture as a 3D image, you’d need many exposures. 3D imaging shows considerably more than a simple 2D X-ray, as this newer technology will provide more accurate and complete visual information from every angle. Additionally, the data can be easily shared and duplicated without the worry of the film getting lost.

What happens after the scan?

After the scan, the information will be used to develop a proper treatment plan for your oral or facial issues. We’ll use this technology to easily and quickly share images of the problem area with your referring dentist or physician. This will allow your doctors to work together on your care to deliver a positive treatment experience.
